| Customer Reviews: A Nice Gift January 23, 2010 Lillian36 (United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My husband and I gave this to his mother for Christmas. She loves it. It's easy to take on and off. It isn't too heavy around the wrist. It looks very nice, not tacky or fake.

My wife loved this very much. I would recommend this as a gift for any woman. Or men in SF
Gilson Opal, not mined October 10, 2009 J. Henson (US) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I bought this for a gift for a teenage girl, hoping I might be able to upgrade it to my mom, who is well versed in the various quality of stones & metals. Unfortunately this will not be suitable for my mom, but for my daughter it's just fine. The bracelet is stamped as sterling. The gold overlay is unknown - no markings for it so I'm going to assume it's just that - a gold tone overlay (they should have left it as sterling). The stone is pretty and is not a plastic Opal Simulant, it also is not a doublet or triplet. It's a laboratory version called a Gilson Opal. Still very pretty and not cheap, perhaps a bit easier to keep than the real thing as you don't need to worry about temperature differences fracturing it, but it has the lizard skin pattern within that is tell-tale of these.
I had hoped we were looking at a mined opal -- for this price it would have been a steal ;)
For the price I paid ($35 on lightning deal & sold out within 15 minutes) This is a decent item. Worth the money for the sterling and a nice stone, but IMHO, not worth much more.
